i had a little pear tree


Nothing it would bear. Until this year. No silver nutmegs, but hundreds of golden pears. Two Sundays of work have yielded me 13 jars of pear halves and 11 jars of pearsauce. What's next? Perhaps merlot wine sauced pears, pear chutney, pear jam. I'm starting to enjoy this putting food by.

what with the economy the way it is, we'll ALL be needing to put food by. I'll get started with some prickly pear jam, or some dried saguaro fruit. Pickled nopales, anyone?
